I spent the afternoon preparing for the trial I have in federal court tomorrow. All us lawyers met in our "war" room in a big hotel near the courthouse downtown. The reason was just to review strategy and documents and just let our nerves settle. Because you just do not know how a trial is going to turn out no matter how good you think you are going to do. The jury is the big X factor. You don't know who is going to judge you. Who is going to believe you. Who is going to ignore you. The outcome is never certain. You can say the same for life, I guess.
Left trial preparation for church at 4 PM. Which was a relief. To go from trying to figure out how to sway a judge and jury to not trying to sway anyone at all. To just being in the presence of god.
Still working on prayer. How or even if it works but I'm guessing its a lot different from my opening or closing arguments in court. Do we persuade god? Can we smooth talk her? Does Christ hold a sidebar with the Father? Is the Triune God like a three judge appellate court in the 10th Circuit?
Favorite reading for the moment:
Psalm 111: 3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. 4He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. 5Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Prayers are answered or not. But infinite understanding - how is that even possible? But how is it not, if god be true?
Namaste.
